What Home Means to Me

A house is just a building, Or somewhere you might start a life. A home is something much different, It makes you feel alive. A house can be a place, But a home is something else. You don’t feel like a disgrace, And you can just be yourself. It’s a place with lots of colour, And always has something to discover. Love and hope is always something new, Something that can’t be reused. A home is not a place, Or somewhere to just stay. A home is a feeling, A way to always laugh and play. A big difference between just the words, It’s a way not to be absurd. And as surprising as it may seem, A home cannot be redeemed. And seeing someone without a smile, Is just very, extremely vile. I think of Habitat for Humanity, As a really amazing charity. And if you do read this poem, Just know that you deserve a home.
