What Home Means to Me

I live in a house in Bonavista, Newfoundland but that does not necessarily mean my home is there. My home is wherever my family is -- the location doesn’t matter. A house is a shelter that you live in. A home is where you live and make memories that will last a lifetime. A home to me is fun, comfortable, safe and loving. It is welcoming to others and does not discriminate. It is where life lessons are learned. Happiness is a very important part of a home to me. Laughter and fun experiences help create memories. Home is where I can be myself. It is a special place where I can be a part of a group of people who love me no matter what happens. These people support me and help me if I need them. A home filled with hope and people that care for each other. A house and a home are very similar but they can be two very different things. A house is just a building that you live in but home is more than that for me. Home is where the heart is. That is home to me.
