Habitat Homes
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to building affordable housing and solutions for families in the Grey and Bruce counties in Ontario. Homes are being built in Saugeen First Nation, Owen Sound and Hanover and French Bay Road. These homes are being built because they want to help the housing crisis and provide affordable, decent, and sustainable housing for families in need. There are already homes built from Habitat for Humanity in Ontario. The organization has been involved in various projects including the construction of modular townhomes. Supporting Habitat for Humanity is a way to contribute to a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Their support also has a global impact as every donation made to habitat humanity is matched with a home in progress.
The organization was founded in 1976 in Americus Georgia USA by Millard and Linda Fuller. Habitat for Humanity operates in more than 70 countries addressing housing needs on an international scale. The organization heavily relies on volunteer labor with millions of people volunteering worldwide contributing to the mission. With zero interest, loans are provided to partner families allowing them to become homeowners through manageable payments. Habitat for Humanity engages in disaster response and recovery efforts, providing shelter solutions for families affected by natural disasters or emergencies. Habitat for Humanity has built over 350 000 houses providing homes for more than 1.75 million people (about twice the population of Delaware). The organization focuses on building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. It partners with families to construct homes that are affordable and sustainable using energy efficient practices.
