Sa Bhaile (Home)
I live in a red brick house,
On a street with plenty like it,
But they really aren’t the same.
Because on the inside,
My house transforms.
Into a beautiful home,
Full of kindness and love.
Because a house is a building,
But a home is so much more.
In my home, homemade art plasters the walls,
A clear expression of love.
In my fridge are my favourite foods,
Made with passion and eaten with joy.
Around the table my family eats,
We laugh, we talk, we share.
In my bed I dream,
Of wonderful things,
Miracles and magic.
I have another home too,
Far away across the sea,
With my Nana in Ireland.
From the rolling hills of emerald green,
Where the sheep graze without a worry,
To my Nana’s magical garden,
Where my cousins and I play happily,
This is a place full of love and life.
That’s all home is,
A place where you love and are loved,
Where you accept and are accepted,
Somewhere that holds a place in your heart.
Forever
