No Place Like Home/Special Home

Home is the place where I can do anything without being judged, where I can learn and grow like a sprouting bud. Home is many things, it’s where you make memories or where you and your siblings fight. Sometimes darkness lurks but sometimes there is light. My home is in Nigeria where summer lasts long, or maybe it’s Canada, where winters are strong. Home can be anywhere or anything. Home is where I laugh, dance, and sing. Home is at school where my friends and I play, we laugh and tease each other, we have fun all day. Home is a place where I can be free, play with my brother, and eat ice cream! There can be problems, but we work it through. Every morning before work, mom whispers, “I love you”. Along with our dad who wakes us at 7:45, I wake up happy as I see the sunshine. So yeah, life can be difficult, but we work it out, and this poem reminds me to always carry a smile, not a pout. My home is a special home. It’s not just a place with four walls; it’s a place full of memories and laughter. It’s where I have breakfast every morning. When I wake up, I feel happy because I can see my family and hang out with my friends. We might not celebrate Christmas, Easter, or Halloween, but we celebrate other things like Ramadan or Eid! I feel comfortable in my home but sometimes, a nice walk outside can clear my mind. I have a little brother; I know that I have about 7,000,000 nerves in my body but sometimes, he manages to get on every single one of them. Sometimes we fight but it’ll be alright.
