The 6th Sense

In my home there are 6 senses. I bet you know 5 of them, but in my mind, there is one more. Let’s go through them all. When I walk into my home, I hear my family laughing and having fun. I hear them welcome me to the fun after a long day. Seeing my family happy makes me feel happy. When I see them, my world lights up. If something bad just happens in my life, they make me feel like I can be me and that means a lot. Imagine you wake up in the morning, and you smell freshly baked waffles, to me that’s the smell of home. The rush before an activity, so you’re not late. That's your family putting you first. Baking cookies on a rainy day tastes like home. My mom’s homemade food tastes like home to me too. After something special happens in my life, I feel my family hugging me and congratulating me. That makes me feel proud of myself. Those are the 5 senses but, in my heart, I believe that there is one more thing to add. Love. Love is the last piece of a happy home. It’s like the bricks of a house. That’s why I am so grateful for Habitat for Humanity because they give families a house to make a home!
