What Home Means to Me!
Home is not just a building with bricks and windows. Home is the place where I can finally relax after a long day. Sometimes school feels like jail sitting in the same room for hours watching the clock move as if its a movie, but when I am at home it feels like I've been set free. When I walk through the door everything feels lighter and wind coming at my face. I can drop my backpack, grab a snack and just breathe. I hear my family talking and the TV playing in the background and my little brother running and yelling with his toys around like he has unlimited energy. He’s four years old so the house is never really quiet, there’s always something crashing laughing or being knocked over. One of my favorite things about home is movie nights. My family and I sit together and try to pick something to watch on Netflix even though we can never agree at first. We get snacks, turn down the lights and relax together. Sometimes we talk more than we watch the movie but somehow that makes it even better. Sometimes I see the popcorn bucket empty and I look at my brother munching it down his throat. Home is also where I can be myself I don’t have to act a certain way or impress anyone. If I’m tired I can say it, if I’m happy I can be loud about it. Even when my little brother steals the remote or asks a million questions about random stuff, but it still feels like the best place to be. To me home means freedom, laughter and being surrounded by people who care about me. I know not everyone has a place that feels safe and full of love and that makes me even more grateful for mine. One day I’ll grow up and maybe live somewhere else but the feeling of being together like this is something I will always carry with me No matter where life takes me, home will always be the place that first taught me what love feels like and the place I will always miss when I’m not there.
