What I Love About Home
What is love about home
In broad daylight, the sun is heating up like an oven. The land is dry, Mountains high. The highway is filled with cars. People crossing the highway. Some females are even carrying infants on their backs. Other kids are in their home communities. While I stay inside my soft, warm and safe home. Although I felt alone inside and felt sad when I saw kids playing outside, it made me want to play with them, but I couldn't. It rains sometimes, but it does not snow there. It is always hot, sometimes very hot, but my family and I will make time to go to a water park. Students in my hometown are not forced to go to school, but we all choose to go to school. We study for 6 hours without outside breaks, but we have two breaks for breakfast and lunch. After school, we have to do 2 pages in each textbook for homework, but I like to do my homework at night when it is time for bed. I don't know why, but I like it that way. In our community, we celebrate each other’s festivals by giving food party, even though we don’t speak the same language. We are nice to each other ,but if we have misunderstandings, we silently give each other space. When we are ready we come together and talk about what we don’t like and like. We have some food restaurants that have a variety of food: like jollof rice, fried rice, pounded yams, and snacks like meat pie, suya, puff-puff, and egg rolls. In my country, it has different times, like it will be 1:34 ( 13:34) here, but it will be 7:34 ( 19:34). My country is 6 hours ahead of Canada. To me, home is not just a place; home is where I can feel accepted, allowing me to remove masks and be myself. Home is where I can be loved and cared for.
