This is Home

Where I live is not just a house, it's a special place called home. Why I think it’s a special place is because my heart feels loved, wanted and safe. When it’s summer, my mom and I play badminton while my brother and sister play on the trampoline, and my dad cooks hamburgers and hot dogs on the BBQ. When we eat what my dad made, it sounds like laughter from my family and happiness. At night, we look up at the sky and see if we can spot shooting stars. That’s what helps me feel calm when I feel something wrong. When it’s winter, we go outside and make trails for our sleds and make a family of snowmen. After we're done going outside, we sit near the fireplace and sometimes watch movies and drink hot chocolate. On holidays, my dad and I play board games. When it’s dinner time, it smells like my moms home made pizza and delicious chocolate cake. After dinner, we all sit together, and my mom reads holiday books to my sister, my brother and me. That's why I feel that where I live is not a house; it's a place called home, a place where I feel I belong.
