Meaning Of Home

Some people might say, “home is where you're clothed and fed”, while others might say, “it's nothing but a building’’, but there are 8 billion people in the world, and 4% of these people don't have a home, but that sparks a question; what is a home? Home is the feeling of making smores with your family at a warm campfire while talking about your childhood and how you see yourself in the future. It’s the space where comfort replaces pressure, the place where you walk through the door and feel your shoulders drop, where silence feels warm instead of lonely. Home is the place where you aren’t just tolerated but understood. It’s the place where memories add up like layers of a painting each one adding layers of memories, colors, and stories. Home is the place where you have your best moments, your best cries; your best smiles and sometimes your worst. Home shapes you quietly, the way wind shapes a tree, that special feeling of belonging and comfort, that comes with knowing you've found your people but it doesn't necessarily have to be just your family but home is the one place where the world’s expectations seem to loosen their grip and all judgments seem to vanish. Home is not just a physical place; it could also be a person, a friend, a community, a school, a workplace, a church or a temple, home is comfort, love, and peace, and I truly believe home is all around you. Like Henning Mankell once said, "You can have more than one home. You can carry your roots with you, and decide where they grow.”
