Like a Wave
I slam the door; I’m home
No one else has seen my rage,
The cartwheels through the house that,
Only my home would understand.
I break down the road to find my friends,
Building worlds with snow and ice,
Stories come together like a tsunami,
When I finally come in, I’m soaked.
My dog charges to the door,
My cat lies down, purrs flow like a river,
The fish drift through their tank,
Washing away the outside world.
Every hockey game starts,
With my friends singing loud,
To some song that we’ve never heard.
Like a wave, I am always brought back home
