The Meaning of Home
Why do we need homes? What are they for? What is the meaning of homes? Well, a home to me is a secure place to stay, and you feel protected in that space, not like a random house.
A home is when you feel connected to a house. You might feel connected because of the memories you have in your home. When you move, you can feel really sad because you have the memories in that home. Like in the book Breadwinner by Deboah Ellis the main character, Parvana, lived in a big home when she was little. The big house she was living in got boomed so she had to move to a smaller house. That house was also bombed, and she had to move a few more times due to booming till she was in a very small 2-room house with her 6 family members( including Parvana). So Parvana never got a connection with a house, like you probably do with yours.
Now, what you have been waiting for, why is a home more important than a house. There are many differences between them, but I think the most important one is that you have your family with you and have core memories in that home. Also, how you feel belonging in your home, and your family cares for you and takes care of you. I feel comfy and cozy when I smell my mom's cooking, and my brother and dad watching sports, and just the look of my home is comforting. That is why I think homes are better than houses because a house could be a random house you see on the road with no connection to it. What are your connections to your house?
