Aya and Her Home Country

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Aya. She lived with her parents in her home country which is Egypt. She loved spending time with her grandparents and her cousin Sarah, who was her best friend. They always played together, had sleepovers, and went on fun trips. They enjoyed walking to the park the most. One day, Aya woke up and heard her parents planning a trip. She was thrilled and almost told everyone, but kept it a secret. A few weeks later, Aya slipped and told her cousin by accident. Sarah told her, “It’s going to be the worst trip ever.” Aya asked, “Why? Are you pranking me? I have been waiting for this since last week Sarah replied, “I know, but you’re moving to a whole new country.” Aya was crushed and cried herself to sleep. A month passed, and it was time for Aya and her parents to leave. Before Aya left, she gave Sarah a necklace with their picture inside. They hugged tightly, and Aya said, “I’ll always send you messages... please write back.” When Aya and her family arrived, it was hard to make friends and adjust to the culture, but their home country would never be forgotten. How Home Feels to Me Home is not a house or a street Home is not a bedroom or a TV Home is a home country where I feel safe Home is where we gather and laughter fills the place Home is where the morning feels warm and the night feels light Home is the place where I learned to grow Even if it’s far, it still feels close I may travel, I may roam But inside me, it is just is home
