Habitat Homes

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit group of volunteers who build homes for families that cannot afford one. Habitat for Humanity has built over 90 houses across Grey and Bruce County. It is not a career that pays the volunteers, the volunteers build the houses themselves. All the money they get donated is put towards a family's house, none of it they get to keep. That is incredibly selfless. You might be thinking, why is Habitat for Humanity important? I'll tell you why. First of all, lots of families sleep on streets, in cars, or motels. They do not have a proper shelter, food, or clothing a lot of time. Those families also might have kids they need to feed. Habitat for Humanity will build them a house, if they send in an application and get approved. A lot of the time their form is approved. The families do not have to pay money, they help build their houses instead. Sometimes it takes years depending on the amount of work put in and how big the house is. The families stay in houses provided by the organization while their house is being built. For some families getting a house could qualify them for a job, and that job could provide food and clothes for their family. That could turn a family's life around. Also, the kids in those families will be able to have a better life, all because Habitat for Humanity helped them. So altogether, in my opinion, Habitat for Humanity is one of the most important organizations in the world.
