My favorite things about my home

There are many things I like about my home, like watching movies with my parents on the couch and eating chips and chocolate under a pile of blankets. But some of my favorite things are waking up to music and my parents dancing and laughing in the kitchen or when I come home to a meal made from scratch like when my dad makes chicken alfredo or Greek potatoes. I haven’t always been so lucky. I used to live in an apartment. It was small and I lived on the bottom floor so it was colder, and we couldn't have our dog. At the time she had to stay at my great auntie’s house in BC. And then we moved to BC. We had to stay with my grandparents until we found a house. When we did, it was great. The house was bigger than my apartment and we could have our dog back. Our new home feels hopeful and helps me look forward to the future. That’s what Habitat for Humanity is doing: giving people a nice house in a good neighborhood where they can feel excited about the future. I'm very lucky to have such a loving and safe home to come back to.
