My True Home

Have you ever wanted to skip school just to stay home with your family? One time, I didn’t want to go because everything felt too hard. The work was confusing, and I began to doubt myself. Instead of letting me give up, my dad encouraged me to try for just fifteen minutes a day. He sat beside me and patiently explained what I didn’t understand. Slowly, the “impossible” became possible. That experience taught me that family members pause their busy lives to help the people they love. Home is more than walls and a roof. It is the people who care for you, comfort you, and support you. It’s where we can relax and truly be ourselves. Listening to my parents’ stories feels like sitting at a buffet of lessons and wisdom. Their words feed my mind and help me grow. When I hear the word “home,” I immediately feel that I belong. One day, while walking home from school, a stranger grabbed my shoulder and started talking to me. I felt scared and uncomfortable. But the moment I stepped inside my house, I felt safe again. That instant reminded me how home is a safe place. Home is special for me, and I love my home. My kitchen is my favorite place. It’s where we share meals like adobo and laugh together. My dad is loving and caring, and my stepmom comforts me when I feel sad. They are the heart of our home. Home is a gift—not everyone has one. So when you walk through your door, remember to say “I love you” and appreciate the people who make your house a home.
