The Beauty of Home

Home explained through my senses. I smell my cousin's baked potatoes wafting through Grammys house, topped with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Everyday, when I come home from school, I get a whiff of chicken, steak or potatoes being cooked for supper. Home, tastes like salty water when you fall off a kayak. I hear the waves crashing against the beach as my cousins and I play tennis and volleyball in the sand. I see people jumping in the waves, getting their energy out to have a delicious BBQ on an open grill. Home is when I sleep, it feels like a cloud under my head and I think of the good day I had and how it's going to be even better tomorrow. I feel the baseball, soccer ball and the basketball on my hands and feet on a hot summer day, before I head to get ice cream at the barn. Home is going to see hockey games at our local arena, having fun playing games, running on the stairs and eating sizzling salty fries and drinking hot cocoa from the canteen with my friends and family. Home is where I feel safe!
