home is a feeling

Have you ever wondered what life would be like without the people and passions that shape you? Home is more than walls and a roof; it is a feeling of safety, love, and belonging. For me, that feeling comes from three simple things: my brother, my friends, and baking. Together, they create the place I call home every single day. My brother makes my home special. Without him, the house would feel quiet in the loneliest way, like my voice had nowhere to land. When I look in the mirror, I wouldn’t just see myself — I would see someone missing her other half. With him here, even our teasing and playful arguments mean something. When I knock on the wall and hear his annoyed but familiar response, I feel comforted. He reminds me that I am not alone. He makes me a sister, and that makes our house a home. My friends are my second family, the people who hold my heart gently in their hands. With them, I never have to pretend to be stronger or happier than I am. I can share my secrets, fears, and dreams without fear of judgment. On days when I feel overwhelmed or small, they sit beside me, listen patiently, and remind me of my strength. Their kindness, laughter, and steady support wrap around me like a warm blanket, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Baking is another way I feel at home. Measuring and mixing ingredients helps me turn messy thoughts into something sweet. The kitchen becomes my safe place, where I can pour my emotions into cookies and cakes. So now that I have shown you what makes my home special, I encourage you to think about yours. Who or what makes you feel safe, loved, and accepted?
