Family is Home
Home is love. That love comes from my family. By family, I mean my dad's delicious home cooked meals, my mom's warm and cozy hugs, and the memories of my brother and I making little forts in our room. Every day I wake up in our cozy house and see their faces. I feel like I am in a warm blanket that covers me with a gush of safety.
That love also comes from my family back in Halifax. My family and I moved to Victoria when I was young, so I don't remember much at all. All I remember is that there was a pile of boxes full of memories so high it touched the ceiling.
My family and I go back to visit. When we do, we stay with my loving grandma. She lives in a beautiful apartment with a nice but small balcony. It only has two bedrooms, so when we stay, she is so kind and sleeps on the couch to give my parents her room. There is a small outdoor pool, and we play in it almost every day.
Home is also spending time with my cousins in Peters Lake. To my brother and I, their house is like a dream. There is a pool and a ton of forest behind it and an area next to a crystal-clear lake. There is a dock on the lake that holds so many memories of the four of us. I love spending time with them and the memories we make, even though they live across the country. To me my family in Halifax is just as important as my family in Victoria. So, all that love is what makes me, me.
