Meaning of Home- Why is Habitat for Humanity Important?

I think Habitat for Humanity is very beneficial for our community because it is a non-profit organization that provides safe and affordable housing for families in need, helping with future opportunities and improving health and well-being. Habitat for humanity rehomes and finds homes for many families, so far, they have helped 91 families, 141 adults, and 220 children, and built over 77 homes in grey and Bruce counties. in towns including Port Elgin, Durham, Hanover, Owen sound, Grey/Bruce, and Meaford. The average wait time for affordable housing in grey and Bruce is 4.5 years with 64% of Ontario residents worrying about giving up basic needs just to find affordable housing. Habitat for humanity has three restores in Owen sound, Hanover, and Port Elgin, and In 2024, volunteers contributed over 9000 hours. Habitat for Humanity supports indigenous communities and reconciliation, since 2016, 38 homes have been built for the Saugeen Obijway nation. Habitat for Humanity is non-profit and provides $0 down payment interest free mortgages to make homes affordable. They build stronger communities through volunteer work, and this is why I think Habitat for Humanity is beneficial to our community.
