Meaning of Home

Home is not only a structure nor a place that we sleep in. It is a place where we feel safe and comfortable to be us. You could act silly and goofy without getting criticized nor judged. Some people even choose to act serious. So, really, home can vary its meaning from one to another. From the moment I step into my home, the fresh smell of a delicious meal welcomes me in. The smell of fried rice with Bok choy and the steam of a delicious soup makes me lean toward the kitchen even more. A touch of scramble eggs with cheese rushes towards my nose. Taking a couple more steps in, I see my room with all my collections and toys. This makes me feel more grateful for all the things I have. After ten more steps, I reach my plushies. My hand reaches towards them as I imagine a whole story with them. Then, I stop when I hear footsteps. I turn around curious about what sound I’m hearing until I see my mom calling for me. I step outside of my room and glance at the wonderful plate of food prepared for me. “This looks absolutely delicious”, I say while sitting down. After sitting down, I raise my spoon to dive right into my food. I taste different textures and flavours of my food. That’s what home feels to me. Home is a place where I feel happy, safe, and comfortable. What does home mean to you?
