A House vs. a Home

The second I walk into my home, the whole of me is filled with joy, but in a house, there might not be happiness or a single toy. Around every corner, home rings with laughter, though a house could be silent and cold forever and after. I love the spaces in my home, like the satisfaction of my head hitting the pillows, a house can make you feel lonely when the sound of silence echoes. I’m excited to go home and lie in my bed, but in a place that’s just a house, that excitement might be dead. I wake up in my home feeling rejoiced and new, in a house, there is nothing to take you away from feeling blue. A home is a place that holds the people you love together, like a string, while a house doesn’t have to be more than just a building. A home has enough memories to fill dozens of books, a house could mean nothing to anyone, though that might not be how it looks. The ones in my home understand me and fill me with relief, no one in a house understands you or has the same belief. Home is comfort and love in a dome, an empty house will always make you feel alone. In my home I am surrounded by love and affection, in a house, there isn’t that kind of protection. The people in your home would protect you with defiance, alone in your house, you don’t have anyone in your alliance. Thank you so much to Habitat for Humanity, for building homes and donating everything from a bed to a bathroom vanity. A house can be a home, but a home does not have to be a house.
