This Is My Home

This is my home, where my family and my heart are. Where my parents, my sisters and I can snuggle up on the couch, knowing that everything will be okay. Where my dad strums his guitar off-key, missing notes and making us laugh. Where I can nestle into my blanket and drift off to sleep in the familiar scent I’m so used to. This is my home, my safe space, my comfort zone. A place where I can read and immerse myself in wondrous stories. A place where my books crowd the shelf, leaning and toppling as if impatient to be read. A place where I can draw, letting my creativity lead me. A place where I can write, crafting a world full of twists and turns and little quirks, like me. A place like a patchwork of memories and reassurance, where I am loved, and I am safe. This is my home, even though it may be different and change. Even though there may be different places, it still carries the same feeling of acceptance. Even though there are ups and downs, fights and sadness, it always gets better. Even though I know it won’t always be the same, and it may be hard to accept that, I’ll try. This is my home where, at the end of the day, I know I'll always return. Where, even through the hardest things, I know there is nothing I can’t conquer with my family. Where, even when I want to give up, I know there is always someone to guide me. This is my home, a place full of laughter and hugs, ups and downs. A place where I can be myself. A place to cry, smile, yell and everything in between. This is the place where I'll always belong.
