Home - My Earliest Memory
For me, the meaning of “home” was something I have not fully understood for quite a long time. I never really understood what this so called “feeling” was. I knew that it was supposed to make me feel safe, but I did not experience it for almost 7 years. I grew up with my grandparents; the earliest memory I had of my nana and papa was my fifth Easter with them. I was 5 years old and extremely excited to get all the candy before my sister. I remember my sister waking me up with anticipation; once she left my room, I scrambled to my feet to join my sister in waking up our nana. Once everyone had woken up, me my sister rushed to find every egg that had been hidden. When we finally found them, me and my sister traded candy with each other. This is one of my most happy moments, of which I am very fond. When I think of this memory, I feel loved, safe, calm and happy.
