A Structure or a Feeling

“Hey!” A voice snaps you back to attention. ”Did you hear what we were saying!” Your mom says. ”I heard nothing.” You reply, defending yourself. You have many talents, defending is one of them. ”We're moving" Your dad says in a very firm tone. ”Are you serious!” You shout back at your parents. ”I have a life and friends here!” ”Please let me stay!” You don't stay. You're not even worried about your friends. You're worried about your new house not feeling like your house. It could never feel like the house you lived in all your life. In your heart you love your house, and in a new house you will never find a new connection. The new house is cold and dusty too. It doesn't feel like your house at all. "I'm going to my room!” You shout to your parents as you climb up the creaky stairs. The movers put your bed and your desk in your room. It still doesn't feel like home. Suddenly you hear the doorbell ring. As you look over the stair railing your parents open the door. Some neighbors stick their heads in,then wipe their feet on the mat. They seem really friendly but you still stay in your room, until the smell of perogies drifts under your door. As you step down stairs you find yourself in the living room. Suddenly it hits you that a house is only a structure but home is a feeling in your heart. And right now you can really feel it!
