The Meaning of Home

What is home? Home is not just a place built with wood, bricks, and beams. It is built in smaller ways. Ways like waiting up just to hear the turning sound of the keys and feeling like I don’t have to be someone I'm not to fit in. Feeling comfortable and safe while being at home. Home is somewhere I look forward to going after all day. Home stays even if I had the worst or the best day, it's always there. Home is somewhere where I can spend time with family and make memories. But home isn't always how I want it to be. Sometimes home can hurt when we fight, but it can also heal, it can forgive. That's why home is so important. Not just for me but for everyone, home is the place where I can take a break from the world to be myself. Home is the place where I feel most safe, I feel loved and cared for at home. Everyone should feel that way in their home too. When I leave home, even when I change, home follows me because it lives in the people and the parts of myself that feel most true.
