A Home is not Just Four Walls

A home is not just a building where I eat and sleep, a home is so much more important. A home is a place filled with laughter, hugs, smiles and love! A home is not just four walls, a home is a warm hug filled with a new story every day. The backyard is filled with some of the best memories from pool parties, barbecues and all the games we play! In my living room our family shares stories, tells jokes that make us laugh our hearts out, we also laugh at movies that we watch together wrapped up in our blanket. In the kitchen we talk about memories from when we were younger, and tell stories about school and work. My room is where I can go if I have a terrible day and need to take a break from reality, where I can laugh and cry with my friends. The basement is where all the toys wait for a friend to play with, where my sister and I can hang out. The basement is kind of like our lounging place, where me and my siblings share secrets and play games together, when we get bored. A home is where open arms wait to wrap around me after every day, whether it was the greatest day of my life or feels like the most miserable day ever. Home is where everyone waits to lift my head up when it is down, and encourages me to keep going, and try my hardest whether it is really easy or super hard. Although I love the amazing things in my home and all the comfy furniture, the most important thing to me is the people that live in it with me! Home is where I know I’m loved as who I am, it is my safe space, where I can go if something makes me feel down. A home is not just a building with four walls, it is a place where you are with the people you love, where you can be yourself, where you can smile and laugh, where you can feel comfortable and be as happy as you have ever been! That is what a home is to me.
