Meaning of Home
Home. It’s a word people toss around lightly. A lot of people do not understand the real meaning of home or even what home means to them. This is what home means to me. For me home is a blanket of warmth, laughter, fun, and love. It draws me in close to the people I love most. Home is where the hard talks happen. The lectures and the don’t do’s. The living room is our treehouse. Where we have our best dance parties, hugs, and cries. Where we stay up being serious and funny, happy and sad. The kitchen is a huge part of my home. Good disasters and not so good disasters happen there but we always figure it out because that’s our home. We make cultural food from Nigeria and try new things. Upstairs we have my room. My sanctuary to be calm and my refuge on bad days. I share a room with my sister. We have laughs, fights, peace, and quiet all in that room. That room is where all the best all nighters happen. So for me home is not just a word. It’s where the best memories are made. I like to think of it like layers and different flavours on a cake. All coming together to make my home.
