Meaning of My Home

Home is like a hall of memories where I remember things at every turn. I know where I belong and that’s home. Everything there reminds me of special moments I made with my family. Nothing will make me forget those memories, because I made them with the people I love. The living room’s where we have so many photos all over the walls, full of memories. That’s where I first saw my sisters when they came home from the hospital, and where they took their first steps. That’s where my cousins and I always sleep over when they come. I always feel comfortable in that room. Somebody is always sitting there relaxing, so you can always talk to someone. Those moments are special to us, which makes the room special. Our kitchen reminds me of the time we went to Bali and my grandma made homemade Indonesian food so I could try it for the first time. My mom made it when we got back, but it didn’t taste as good without the rest of my family. Home is where my family is, even if I don’t know them or we don’t speak the same language and the only way I can talk to them is through a translator. Home is where I always feel safe and cozy. Living in a safe neighborhood makes home a refuge, not someplace I have to be scared of. Home is where you live, not someplace you stay that feels cold and empty. My family is the most important part of home. Home wouldn’t be home without them. It’s where we have game nights and movie nights, where we enjoy each other’s company, just having fun. Home is where you're accepted. Home is memories. That’s what matters in a home.
