What Home Means to Me

Houses are meant for people to live in, but a home is for people to have a sense of connection. Here’s why. A home is the feeling of coming home in -28C and you get greeted by a warm place with your family being nice and cozy in a blanket, so you sit next to them, the feeling of when you’re having a family dinner and it’s snowing outside. Christmas, Easter, and New Years Day only come when you have a home to spend time with family. Home is like watching a movie with your family at home. You will know you’re at home when you know that you’re loved at a secure place for your family to chill. You’ll hear laughter of your family having fun, seeing smiles, noticing your family is there for you. I have some moments to share, like when it was Christmas and my grandparents came to celebrate with us, or when my parents told me we’re getting a new dog. A home is worth more than a house, because without the moments I explained earlier, a house wouldn’t have family, connection, coziness, feeling safe, being welcomed, and being loved, but a house with these moments would be a home.
