The Heart of the Household: Why My Home is My Sanctuary
To me, home is far more than a physical structure; it is the ultimate sanctuary for my soul. It is the place where my family—my parents, my sister, and I—find our shared rhythm. Every year, our home expands as my grandparents travel from our homeland to stay with us for months at a time. Although we began our journey as foreigners, our years here have deep roots; we are now proud Canadian citizens, and this house stands as a testament to our happy, settled life.
Inside these walls, my favorite corners tell the story of my daily life. In my room, my new computer serves as the gateway for my creativity and my studies. Outside, our vast backyard transforms into a stadium every summer, where the grass is a witness to countless soccer matches and spirited games.
However, the true "soul" of this house is the kitchen. My mother’s cooking is the lifeblood of our family; her flavors are so vital that it feels as though we would starve without them. From the kitchen, we move to the living room—the "depot" of our home—which serves as the central hub connecting every other room. Even when my sister and I find ourselves in a heated disagreement, this central space remains the best spot to resolve our problems and reconnect. Though life keeps me busy, I can always assure anyone that my home is the best place on earth.
