My Home

My home is unique in many ways. It is a place where I can feel safe and comfortable. It is my special place, my own space—the comfort of being in my own environment, where the outside world can’t bother me. I went on vacation and was excited to be in a new country and meet new families, but it was not long before I missed home. I missed the comfort of my bed, my room where my things are placed just the way I like them. Most of all, I missed having Christmas at home with my family. Christmas morning in my home is special for my sister and me. We wake up early to open a present before breakfast. We spend the rest of the day visiting my friends in the building, opening and playing with all the gifts while my mom makes a Christmas dinner. I have a Maine Coon cat named Melane. She is a gentle giant. Her breed is meant to live in cold areas like Canada because they have a lot of fur. Something else that is unique about my home is that our building has an indoor gym and a basketball court. My mother is the building’s coordinator, so she sets up all the fun activities in the gym. For example, when summer break was winding down, we had a back-to-school party where a lot of people won backpacks and clothes. My building offers a lot of fun programs Monday to Thursday for kids, such as floor hockey and drumming on Wednesdays and a vegetable garden in the summer. My favorite part of my home is the indoor gym.
