What Home Means to Me

Home isn't just a place, it's your family and friends. It isn't just walls and a roof: it's safety, it's the jokes, it's the happiness. It's the time you spend with people you love. The time with them doesn't last forever. Memories last but the people don't last forever. I wish I could spend more time with the people I love. I wish I could meet some former family members but they're in a better place. Now, a home isn't just the humans that live there. Home is pets like dogs, cats, lizards, fish. They are family and I miss my pets that are no longer with us. I wish I could bring them back but that’s the sad truth. Sometimes, you can’t change fate. It’s a sad truth but it’s okay because they can be in a better place. Sometimes you have to accept that they aren't coming back. A lot of people need these homes for their families. They could be disabled or have to take care of children alone, they could be homeless or struggling. This could help a lot of people. My writing may not win but I think it will help. I really believe these families deserve a chance to get a home that they really need. I feel that my home can't be replaced. You can't replace your Mom or your Dad and I'm scared that I'm gonna lose them one day. This is what I think home feels like.
