The Meaning of Home

Home is a wonderful place to make memories, find hobbies and most importantly to feel safe and loved! My home is more than just a bunch of rooms filled with beautiful furniture and silly toys. It's where memories are made, meals are cooked, and children go from adorable babies to who we are now! Homes can mean different things to different people but to me it's where you feel loved and safe where you can express your thoughts and never be afraid to cry. I have learned that my home is where you can know you have a place and that you are not alone no matter what you are going through! If you feel down and depressed you know you have family. If you are lost and broken you have a safe house to come back to and to feel you are so loved it can put you back together like glue. A house should be a place where you can feel like you're on the top of the world and sadly maybe other times like you want to run away and never come back. But no matter how loud you scream or how long you weep, how fast you run, how much you eat, how good you look, and how tall you are you should always know how much you are loved and your house contains all that delight and misery you have had from all the years! Home is a place where joy, laughter, sadness and sorrow are shared. Where we all have a spot and not just a spot in our house, and spot in our hearts! House is a word we all use often but we don't all gather what it means. Home isn't just four walls but home is where you feel safe, it's where you feel loved and chosen. When we moved to our house about a year ago it felt like I had known change but this change felt totally different. Month after month it felt like a hotel or construction site (especially when we had renovations) but finally we had made memories and transformed our house into a home! So that's why I think it is a spectacular place that we should all have no matter what we wear, what we look like, no matter where we are from or what or what we act like. So that's what home means to me. That's why I think Habitat for Humanity is so important and why I want to support it. I really hope someone gets a new house and that they make it a HOME! When my teacher told me that we were going to do this project, ideas started whizzing through my head like lightning and I thought that it was so awesome that us little kids could do such a big thing and that we could help take people off the streets for good!
