A home isn't just a house

“Home isn't a place, it’s a feeling.”- Cecelia Ahern To me home means three main things: emotions, memories, and safety. It’s not just a building with walls and a roof, but a place where I truly belong. To begin with, home is filled with emotions, a breeze of happiness, a twinkle of joy, and sometimes a raindrop of sadness. When I come home after a long day of school, the smell of my grandma’s delicious food brings a smile on my face. Sometimes I don’t feel my best, but at home all emotions are welcome. My brother and I enjoy telling jokes and laughing. There may be times we fight but we’re siblings and we still love each other. Love and respect is very important to shape a home. Secondly, home means safety, no police, ambulances, or fire trucks, just calm and peaceful. I am grateful to have a family to keep me safe; I feel safe at home because I’m not alone. I have a safe, calm community with kind neighbours, they're kindhearted and sweet. To feel at home, you need to feel safe. Finally, something that makes me smile is all the sacred memories kept at home. My home is filled with pictures, things that help me remember all the good times. Pictures and laughter both represent memories held at home. Home is filled with lots of life. Plants, dogs, cats, fish, and us. All those people out there without a home try as hard as they can but still don’t make it. I hope you appreciate your home because unfortunately not everybody has one.
