The Meaning of Home

Home is more than just a place to play, a place to eat or a place to sleep. I think a home is very different from a house and this paragraph will tell you why. Moving to Canada was very rigorous for me and my family. We had to pack up, say goodbye and move. But the worst part is that we moved in Covid. Because of that, we had to quarantine in an apartment in Toronto, which was very demanding. I felt like a caged bird! While we were in quarantine my family realized how essential a home was. Because we were in Covid we were not permitted to see other people and were only allowed outside for 10 minutes! When we landed in Calgary finding a house was complex. When we eventually found one, we turned our house into a home. My home now consists of my mom, my dad, my sister and my dog. Together in my home we play boardgames, watch T.V. and most importantly spend time together. Even when I am at school I can still smell the aroma of my mom's scrumptious chicken and feel the strong, muscular arms of my dad hugging me tight, my sister’s voice and my dog’s bark. I am so thrilled that my class is entering this contest because I think that everyone deserves to have a home where they feel loved, safe and warm.
