My Home...

I glanced around at my sister doing her makeup. She lightly taped on her face to apply her brush. The way she was applying the makeup to her face was mesmerizing. All the colors mix together making the perfect every day look. I aspire to be like her someday. I look up to her in many different ways. As I listened I could hear my little brother hitting every wall in the house. (including me.) My whole family plays or played the sport before. My sister is the only person in my family that doesn't play the sport but she does watch it. I played it for 1 year. My dad played for 20 years. My older and little brother still play it. I took a deep breath and smelled. The perfume that filled every inch of my room. It was like a fun sunny spring day. As I walked up the stairs I could smell bukhoor. Which is a traditional Arabic scent that comes in all different kinds of scents. My mom is always putting it all over the house. I could just imagine the taste of the cold ice water going down my throat. All the tasty foods coming from the kitchen. All of my favorite childhood foods. Whenever my dad gets back from work he always brings new sweets for us to try. As I sat there, surrounded by all these sounds, smells, and feelings, my heart felt really full. I realized how lucky I am to have a family like mine. Even when things are loud or messy, this is where I belong. These little moments might seem small, but they mean everything to me. No matter where I go or how much I grow up, these memories will always stay with me, warm and safe, like home.
