Soccer Is My Home

Soccer is my home The sound of the ball leaving my foot Swishing into the back of the net Running back to my teammates to celebrate Home is my soccer tricks Always room to improve Tricks I practice day and night Then hardly use them in game Home is the net’s post I can shoot an excellent shot But the post gets in the way It can thwart the other team too Home is the referee You can’t tell him what to do Calling plays I might not agree on And if I complain I get sent off the field Home is the ball Can be my best friend But sometimes the ball and my foot Don’t agree with each other Home is the field Waiting to be used On the green grass Where history has been made And will be made Home is my cleats Which I’ve laced Hundreds of times And they’ve traveled with me Across the Atlantic Home is my coach Giving me advice On how to get better Scolding my team for goofing around By making us run laps Home is my teammates We practice with each other every week We celebrate together after a win We weep together after a loss Home is the fans There for us every game Screaming their lungs out To encourage my team To win Playing soccer Is like eating food After you’ve been starving Soccer is life Soccer Is my home
