The Meaning of Home

Home is a safe place that I can go to when I feel down. It is warmer than any fire more comfy than a land of blankets and pillows, and more amazing than anything I have ever seen. When I am at home I feel safe and protected. With a hot bowl of soup and a heated blanket on a cold winter night I curl up in my bed and read. However, home is not just a hot bowl of soup or a heated blanket, home is a feeling that can go with you wherever you go. A feeling of comfort, of calm or happiness or joy. It is not the house it is the things that are in it that makes it a home. My bed, my cats, my family, my memories. Memories can travel, a house cannot. A true home lies in your heart. With your family, with friends, with anything you hold dear. A house is a safe place to shelter to get out of the rain, but a home is somewhere to shelter permanently. You may move houses, or move across countries but you always take something with you that reminds you of home. I am grateful for all that I have.
