What Home Feels Like

Home. Home is a safe place. No judging, no mean faces. You can be yourself, or someone else. You belong, you fit in this space. You can laugh with people you love, Smiles are big, a happy space. There is kindness, There is love. There is help when you feel small, Someone is there when you call. There is guidance, kind and true, People who care about you. Home is when the rain trickles down, And you’re safe and sound. Sipping cocoa, warm and sweet, By the fire, wrapped in a blanket, by the heat. Watching thousands of movies, while the lights are low, While the rain goes tip-tap on the window Outside it’s wet, windy, and cold, Inside is warmth you can hold. Home is love, no hate at all, A place to rest, a place to fall. It’s cooking with your family nearby, Sharing stories, smiles, and cheer. This feeling feels just right, Safe and warm, day and night. Reading bed time story with your mom and dad As they kiss you to sleep and say goodnight. Family is home, no matter where I roam. Home. Home. Home.
