There's no place like home

To the normal eye, home is just a building, a place where you eat, sleep, and live. And yes, that can be a home, but not always. To me, home is a place where you feel safe and welcome, happy and warm. A place you make memories that last forever in your brain. Home is where you can laugh, have fun, and be yourself. I had a home I lived in for most of my life. It was like my best friend. So, when we had to move out, I was devastated and begged my mom not to. I even cried a bit. I hated the new place and swore to never call it my home, but my house. It’s been two years, and I ended up breaking my own promise. My new home is small, but it feels welcoming. I have my own room with my own pink wall, my own bed, and all my stuff. Though my room is messy and definitely not organized, it makes me feel happy. I come home every day greeted by my dog Rosie, and even though I lost something special to me, I found where I truly belong. Home is a sanctuary, a place where you can just breathe and live in the moment. When I was younger, I thought "home" was another word for a house, a shelter, but no. House has a meaning of “a building for people to live in,” while “home” has another: “a place where you feel at peace.” No arguments, no fights, but what makes you feel like you ”.
