What home is to me

For me, home isn't just a house; it's a feeling. That feeling when I walk in my door and smell my mom's vanilla candle, that feeling when I and my friends are chilling at my house, that feeling when my mom asks, “What do you want for dinner?” Knowing I get to pick what we eat, that feeling when my mom finally says yes to a sleepover that I've been asking her for. But when I'm most at home is when I'm in my room, with my favourite fluffy blanket, eating buttery popcorn (or candy), watching my favourite movie or show on my mini projector that's blaring onto the ceiling, blocking out all noise, eating my snacks, and just chilling. That's my favourite type of home. But whenever I'm home, or really whenever anyone is home, they should feel safe. Whenever I'm home, I feel safe because I know everything and everyone that's there. Home should be a safe place for everyone where they can feel cozy or happy. But not everyone's home is the same; some people's home can be in a light space or dark space, with people or without people. Doesn't matter, as long as they're home.
