Home isn’t just a building

Home is the place where we can spend time with our family, and be safe and comfortable. We have bedrooms, and beds that we sleep in every night. We have food in our fridge, and clothes in our closet. We feel warm and cozy. We hang pictures on our walls, and decorate our rooms as a way to express ourselves without words. Sometimes, we put up posters. Maybe of our favorite singers, or animals, songs, and so much more. The feeling of eating your favorite snack, while laying under blankets, maybe scrolling on your phone, is the best feeling ever. Knowing that you are safe. The living room is a place where we can spend time with family, whether that means watching movies, talking, making jokes and laughing. You can relax, and you can talk about anything. The kitchen is a place where we can eat food, drink water or maybe even soda. Our bedrooms are our safe places. We can watch tv, listen to music, talk to ourselves, scroll on our phones, and we can do so much more. Our beds give us comfort, make us happy, and help us fall asleep and get our rest. Home is a place for us to feel loved, and to feel like we belong. You might remember your childhood bedroom, that no longer looks the same. It used to be covered in unicorns and rainbows, and now it’s covered in posters of artists, pictures of your friends, it looks and feels different. Your parents might have measured you on the wall, and now you stand there and you're taller than the line, looking at how small you used to be. Home isn’t about the place, it’s about the connection you have with the people around you. That’s what makes a house, a home filled with love and comfort.
