Where the Heart Feels Loved

A home is more than just a place with walls and a roof; it is a place filled with comfort and warmth. It is where your family comforts you through both good and bad days. It is where you can be yourself without judgement and make mistakes without feeling stares at yourself. When you come home from a rough day, there is always family ready to welcome you in. One of the best things about home is all the smaller things like laughing with family, the fun games of tag or hide and seek, and especially the conversations over dinner that make you feel known. The special moments that you’ll remember from childhood come from the traditions, holidays, and birthdays, when laughter fills the house and where you meet long distance family. However, my favourite thing about home is when mistakes happen, you don’t get judged. Not only that, you can also learn from these mistakes with your family by your side. While there are other family members and cousins, the people that are always by my side are my mother and my brother. Unfortunately, my father was taken too soon from us when I was only one and a half years old. Even though I had a little journey with my father he was the best father he could be. My mama is the kind of person who knows me better than I know myself. She teaches me the lessons that school will never teach. My brother is the person who is always by my side supporting me through hard times constantly pushing me to my limits. At home, you can sit on the couch, close your eyes and use all your senses. You can hear the laughter and footsteps across the room. You can also smell the cooking of dinner. Not only can you tell your mother about your day using speech but also feel the fabric of leather on your couch by using touch. Lastly, you can open your eyes and look at the memories framed on the wall in a pristine state. When you walk outside, you will look at your household that you grew up in and then slowly realize it is the place where you grew up and learned from your mistakes. So in the end, it does not matter if it is big or small or fancy. The only thing that matters is the inside. When you think of your childhood memories this place will come up even if your house was big or small. All your memories will come from home, the place where the heart feels loved.
