What does home mean to me?

A home doesn’t have to be a building it could literally be a chicken’s nest. Home is where things you really care about are, even people. It’s where you have memories. It’s where you have fun, feel safe, happy, and even sad sometimes. It’s where you hear laughter and smell your dad and mom cooking, that’s where I call home. So technically I only have one home — Ecuador. Ecuador is a beautiful country in South America. It has a beautiful culture where everyone is kind to each other. Of course, it has its problems, but it is beautiful. Even though it’s my native land, we had to move. At the age of six I moved to Canada. We rented a small apartment in Winnipeg, MB. Sadly, we couldn’t bring our dogs to Canada at this time, and two of them passed away since. We stayed there for about a year. When I finally felt comfortable, we moved again. This time we moved to a house and that’s where I am right now, but who knows how long. Our house is starting to feel like home now because we were able to get one of our dogs back! On the journey to find your home, there will be ups and downs. I am thankful to Habitat for Humanity for helping people without a home. Hopefully, one day, they can have a home, live a life they deserve, and not be alone by having their family with them.
