What is Home?

What is home? What is home? That question may seem simple, but it’s quite complex. Home is not just a building it’s the memories made inside. Home can be anywhere; it doesn't even have to be a building; for example, does your family go on vacation-like going camping or staying in a hotel/cottage? Well, when you go camping, stay in a hotel or cottage, that is your home for however long you stay. Every home has its own traditions, like Friday movie nights or Saturday game days. Whatever your family does is great! For example, my family does family movie nights and family vacations are fun too, we go to PEI every summer and we stay in a cottage. That's my home for a week! When you think of “home”, what do you think of? When I think home, I think of family, wood stove, board games, all my brothers Mario Lego, all my sister’s baby toys and my family’s special plant named Stella. There are also piles and piles of laundry and dishes, dirty diapers, my family pool, everyone's socks everywhere and the memories we made! Home is the place where you feel safe and warm. The saying “there's no place like home” has so many different meanings. Home can mean your continent or your street. It doesn't even have to be a place; it can be a feeling or memories. I go to my grandparents' house after school every day, so that is kind of like my half-home. Home is the games we play, the things we pretend. Some families don't have a lot of space to play but any place will work for pretending or even just playing games! Whether you have materials or not, you can play games or pretend, because so long as you’re with family, you are home. Home is the memories we make, the place where we feel safe and warm and the traditions inside. What do you think of when you think of “home”? For me it's the fun games we play and so much more.
