Where is Home
What is home?
By:Tehzeeb Chowdhury
When people hear the word “home,” they often picture a stable shelter filled with affection, care, and warm cooked meals, but to me, home is so much more than a physical space. It is not just where I sleep at night or where I go to escape the world; it is a living part of who I am. Every step I take through it carries a memory, every corner holds a story. I can still picture my little sister wobbling across the floor in her pink, fluffy dress, her tiny hands reaching out for balance while the whole room filled with laughter and encouragement. I remember the overwhelming pride in my chest when my family celebrated my first-ever piano competition trophy, their cheers louder than the applause I heard on stage. These are not just moments that passed — they are moments that stayed, moments that shaped me. To me, the walls are not just made of bricks; they are filled with echoes of laughter, silent tears, whispered worries, and late-night conversations that only happen when the world finally feels quiet. The kitchen is not just a place to eat, but a place where long days end and comfort begins, where stories are shared and stress slowly fades. The hallway has heard my nervous footsteps before important moments and witnessed the relief that followed. The living room has held celebrations, movie nights, deep talks, and the kind of joy that makes time feel like it has stopped. Home is where I learned to be strong when things were difficult, where I learned gratitude when things were good, and where I learned that love does not need to be perfect to be powerful. It is where my dreams first felt possible, where my voice first felt heard, and where I am constantly reminded that I am never alone. To others, home may simply be an address or a building. To me, it is a collection of memories, emotions, and experiences that live in my heart. Home is not where I hide from the world — it is where I learned to face it.
