What My Home Means to Me
My home is a special place where laughter and music fill the air, where my family eats delicious food that wraps the house in smells that can make any house unique. The pictures on the wall decorate the house with lively colours.
Home can pick you up when you feel down, whether it’s after losing a big sports game, going through tough times, or even just having a bad day! Your home filled with family will make you feel like there is no one in the world who can beat you.
Habitat for Humanity is doing the right thing, helping people in need get a roof over their head to fill them with warmth. Out of 8 billion people in the world, there are an estimated 330 million people who are considered homeless. Most people don’t realize how lucky they are to have a place like no other to call home.
Home might mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people; it might be a country where you’ve grown up, or it also could be a house with colours, laughter and music. But for me, it is spending quality time with the people you love, sharing delicious food with your fellow family members, wrapping myself in blankets as I sleep in a bed that keeps me warm at night.
I remember one night when I woke up very early in the morning and thought about what it would be like to not have a house. My heart sank when I imagined having nowhere to go back home to. So after I thought about that for a while, I realized that people shouldn’t be suffering just because they don’t have enough money. They should be living in a house… Just like me.
