Not a place, but a feeling

H.O.M.E H is for happiness. O is for openness. M is for myself. E is for encouraging. When I am coming home from school, I feel happy because I know I’m almost home. When I open the door and put away all my stuff, I know that I’m finally home and I can relax. There is openness in my home. Open arms to welcome me, hug me. Making me feel happy and loved. People with open ears when I need to talk, and there’s an open door that I can always come back to. When I make a mistake and my parents tell me to keep trying, I know that my home is encouraging. Encouraging me to keep going, to try again. Home to me is like a warm, happy, place where I can be myself. Home is the smell of Mom cooking delicious home cooked food. Home is the memories of family night, playing boardgames and watching movies. Home is where my family is, and all of those happy memories I made with them. Home is a place where I can thrive and live in love. When the land is covered in snow, home is cuddling under a blanket reading, or making a snowman with my siblings in the backyard. Home is where I belong. My home is a house, but that’s not what makes it special. What makes it special is the feeling that I‘m loved, and my loved ones are there as well. That’s why I’m thanking you Habitat for Humanity for helping other people find their home, so that they can feel happy and safe. Thank you for making the world a better place. As said by Cecelia Ahern, “Home is not a place, it's a feeling.'' And that feeling is the best.
