A Home, not a House
A home is where you feel loved, with your mom, your dad, and your siblings all together. A house is where you live, a building with a sturdy roof and walls. But all that actually matters is everything inside of the walls. For instance, my mom's warm embrace. Or my dad’s calming voice reading Harry Potter to me, making me go peacefully to sleep.
Houses don’t have feeling in them when homes do, say if you're feeling blue, excited or frustrated, a home keeps all those feelings in your heart. Imagine if you come home from work or school, and you had an awful day at school, you can go home and release all that anger. You may think that a home is just a building. But that’s what a house is, a building for eating, sleeping and living. Our homes are a feeling we have.
My home is playing outstanding board games till way too late, because we can. Singing karaoke with all my loving family and friends. Eating pizza well watching movies, all snuggled up together, me, my dad, my mom and my sister. Home can be beautiful; home can be ugly. A home, your home, is in your heart. And there is nothing more about it.
Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for all the work you do and for letting me help too.
